Colbert Mashile Lino Cut Prints

Mashile is clear in his views of what South Africa has and has not achieved since 1994 and despairs at the socio-political and socio-economic realities of the country. He is keenly aware of the hypocrisy of the country’s leadership and is troubled by the continued poverty and inequality that are still so much in evidence. In these lino cuts, Mashile examines the relationship between media, aspiration and leadership. Mashile interrogates the nature of humans, of man as the animal and of the animal as man.
