Nandipha Mntambo

Nandipha Mntambo worked on a series of monotypes when she first worked at The Artists' Press. The monotype process appealed to Mntambo as a way to get a feel for working with print, a medium that she has not worked extensively in. Most of her work either sculptural or photographic. She was able to try out colours, brush marks and textures without the pressure of working on a stone or plate and the results were more or else immediately available for her to see. The direct energy of her mark making is clear in these prints which relate conceptually to the lithographs and linocut prints that she worked on once she had completed her monotypes.
