Print dealers in South Africa.The South African art market is a relatively small market and within this print dealers serve a segment of the general art market. Print dealers can be found in most of the major cities such as Johannesburg, Cape Town and Pretoria.

Print dealers can be divided into two groups in South Africa. The first have established galleries and regularly deal with the general public. The second work as agents and buyers for various corporate and private collectors. Some print dealers are a combination of the two.

There is only one gallery in South Africa that focuses on works on paper; this is The Art on Paper Gallery in Auckland Park, Johannesburg. Alet Voster established Art on Paper in 2000, and most of the exhibitions at the gallery have focussed on various print techniques. The Artists' Press has contributed to many of these exhibitions and has held a celebratory ten Years of The Artists Press exhibition which was held in 2001. The exhibition showed a selection of work produced at the print shop over the years as well as being the launch of Nadine Gordimer's "Ultimate Safari" artists' book.

Art on Paper represents many artists from all over South Africa and all of the prints printed at The Artists' Press are available through this print dealer. Alet and her team take great care of the work that they sell and one can be assured of professional service at all times. The gallery also has a select collection of books related to South African artists who work in print as well as general books that relate to art in South Africa for sale. Warren Siebrits Modern and Contemporary exhibits work, which are often, curated exhibitions focussing on particular aspects of Modern and contemporary South African work. The catalogues produced by the gallery are superb and informative. They have a particular interest in multiples and are a good place to source collectable printwork such as that by the premier Namibian artist John Mafengejo and South African Walter Battiss. The Goodman Gallery is one of the premier galleries in South Africa and exhibits prints by artists who are in their stable. These include work by Sam Nhlengethwa, Pat Mautloa, Penny Siopis, Robert Hodgins, Kathryn Smith and David Koloane. The Goodman Gallery

The leading "non-web" art magazine in South Africa is called Art South Africa. It is available from most good book shops and gives an invaluable insight into fine art in South Africa with lots of academic analysis and debate. In George in the Cape is the Strydom Gallery. They exhibit a selection of work by a cross section of South African painters, sculptors, printmakers, potters and photographers. They also provide artists with printmaking facilities. The Strydom Gallery
